JACKFRUIT CURRY (KATHAL KI SABZI) RECIPE

JACKFRUIT CURRY (KATHAL KI SABZI) RECIPE

Ingredients 

  • 500gm Jackfruit 
  • 300gm Onion 
  • 02 Whole Dry red chilly 
  • 02 Bay leaf 
  • 1 tablespoon Kasuri methi 
  • ½ teaspoon Red Chili powder 
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder 
  • Water

For Garam Masala Paste

  • ½ inch Ginger 
  • 20 cloves Garlic 
  • 04 Cloves 
  • 1 inch Cinnamon 
  • 10 Black pepper
  • 3 Green cardamom
  • 1 to 2 Black cardamom  
  • 2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander seeds

Directions

Step 1

Peel off the Jackfruit and cut it into small pieces. Wash them with warm water 

thoroughly.

Step 2

Grind all garam masala in a mixture using little water. Make fine paste. 

Step 3

Heat a deep pan (kadhai). Pour some oil in it and add chopped jackfruit in it. Saute for 5 minutes and add some salt. Now saute it till it gets soft, easily cut with a spatula. Now take out Jackfruit in a bowl.

Step 4

Meanwhile,Wash and chop the onion into slices.

Step 5

Heat a cooker and pour 2 tablespoons of oil. Add onion slices and ¼ teaspoon salt, saute for 2 minutes. Close the lid and wait for one whistle. Switch off the flame and allow the cooker to naturally release the pressure. Now open the lid and take out the onion in a bowl.

Step 6

Heat the same deep pan (kadhai). Add some oil then add ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds, bay leaf, dry red chilly. Now add cooked onion (Step 5), saute for 2 minutes then add Red chili powder,Turmeric powder, Garam masala powder, Kasuri methi and garam masala paste in it. Saute for 5 to 10 minutes, cook masala well. Then add jackfruit in it and mix it well. Saute for 5 minutes then add 1 and ½  half glass of water or add water as per your gravy thickness you like. Cook till jackfruit becomes soft. Now switch off the flame. 

Serve it with Rotis or Rice.
